Welcome to Digital Arts. I'm your teacher, Mrs. Girot. I hope you had an adventurous summer and are refreshed and ready to begin again!
After watching the videos posted in the week 1 lesson, I want you to start thinking deeply about these questions:
- What makes art valuable?
- How do digital artists fuel technological advancements?
- How can you combine art and technology in a way no one ever has before?
- How can you take digital art into the real world so that people can experience it?
- How can you give your digital art a heart?
Create an Artist Blog
What should you post in your blog?
- Pictures & reflections of your artwork, past and present.
- Other forms of art you do, like sports, dance, writing, poetry, etc.
- Meaningful messages
- Insights into the types of things you pontificate about
It's OK to share other people's artwork or ideas to help to convey your message, but be sure to give credit to the original author.
Your Artist Blog is a Portfolio
As an artist, it's important to develop your portfolio. Be sure to share your works of art in your blog and write about them. What inspired you? What was the process you used to achieve the final end product? What are some of the hidden meanings? Make connections to Literature, Science, History, Geography, Culture - the sky is the limit!
Be sure to submit your link to the Week 1 Assignment Dropbox so I can add it to the Student Blogs link list. Once everyone's links are submitted, we'll assign small groups to follow with.
Here is a video I created demonstrating how to start your own blog - please watch in full:
